Fun at the Lazy T Ranch

We had a great time at the Lazy T Ranch. There were so many animals to see and plenty of open space! Rancher Ron helped us to know more about what life is like on a ranch today and what it was like for the first ranchers and farmers here in Kansas.

Fabulous February

February has been a great month. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to meet with families during conference week. All of our students are progressing each day! Thank you to all of the parents that have volunteered this month, helping out with our UCCPA Circus and Valentine's Day Party. The students really enjoyed these special activities.

During our class time we are continuing to work on letter recognition and math concepts. We are getting closer to the end of the alphabet, but will continue to review the entire alphabet. Are you looking for new homework time ideas to help your student? There are extra concept packets available as well as hands on activity idea packets. Remeber to make homework time FUN!!!

We are looking forward to the month of March and all of the fun activities it will bring!

Happy New Year!

It is a new year and exciting things are in the works for 2012 at UCCPA! Before moving ahead let's take a look at what the Safari room has been working on so far this school year. We began the year meeting new friends. During September we were able to dive into many concepts and skills such as: recognizing our names, sorting and categorizing. Student's quickly became comfortable and started to explore the classroom. Dressing up has become one our favorite activities. Can you guess who the cowboy is?

We also enjoyed getting creative at the art table.

So far we have enjoyed many sunny days outside on the playground. Active play is an important part of our day and allows students to practice gross motor skill and socialization.

As the year progressed we were able to venture out and particpate in wonderful field trips. The fire station was BIG fun, and we were great at hunting for pumpkins.

Back in the classroom we continued to work on letter recognition, counting and pre reading skills. Summer came to an end and we focused on fall.

By October our friends were on parade in their favorite costumes and we were ready for our fall party. Of course we still found time to work on concepts such as: patterns, shapes, size, and less/more.

The holidays came around so quickly and we were so excited for our family feast! This year came to an end with our school participating in the Lighted Parade, getting a visit from Santa, having a PJ Party, and most importantly learning more about the birth of Jesus and the reason for the season.

So you may be wondering, what's next? Be on the look out for great trips and special events such as our "Teddy Bear Picnic" we will also be working more on graphing, matching, number recognition, and much more.

See ya soon!
